Where To Buy Vinyl For Your Cricut Machine

Regardless, there are an endless number of projects you can create with vinyl.

However, sometimes finding the right vinyl at the right price can be challenging. Today I’ll share my top 5 favorite places to buy vinyl for my Cricut.

Amazon

Amazon is a one stop shop when it comes to buying Cricut tools and accessories, craft supplies and things for your home in general. I’ve run across some really good vinyl deals on Amazon.

This particular vinyl on Amazon is less than $25 for 40 sheets of vinyl making it a little more than $.50 per sheet. This is a reduced price and won’t last very long.

You can also find good deals on holographic vinyl on Amazon as well.

Cricut

Cricut always has sales going on and often promotes products for the changing seasons and holidays. My favorite vinyl to buy from Cricut is their adhesive foil and holographic vinyl.

Holographic vinyl and adhesive foil vinyl are the perfect addition to any personalized baby shower gift, wedding gift, or birthday gift.

Swing Design

Swing Design is another great place that has tons of vinyl including patterned vinyl, holographic vinyl, printable vinyl and so many more types of adhesive and heat transfer vinyl (HTV). Their HTV starter sample packs are great for Cricut beginners who want a variety of vinyl to get familiar with.

Swing Design also sells Cricut and Silhouette machines in addition to a ton of accessories, supplies and tools to go with these machines.

My Craft Source

My absolute favorite place to buy vinyl for my Cricut is at My Craft Source. This place by far has some of the cheapest vinyl I have seen online especially when it comes to solid color vinyl. They also sell other Cricut and Silhouette accessories such as heat press machines, transfer tape and

My Craft Source is located in Arkansas and offers a local pickup option to those who may live in the state.

Hobby Lobby

Hobby Lobby has its Four Oh Five vinyl brand which is ok. They have permanent self-adhesive vinyl, removable vinyl, and iron-on. The reviews on the Four Oh Five vinyl are mixed with some people loving it and others sharing bad experiences.

You can also buy Cricut brand adhesive and iron-on vinyl from Hobby Lobby. I recommend only buying the Cricut brand vinyl when it’s on sale.

Michaels

Michaels sells Cricut brand and Siser brand adhesive vinyl and iron-on vinyl.

As with buying from Hobby Lobby, if you buy Cricut brand vinyl from Michaels, be sure to buy it when it’s on sale.

I absolutely love buying the Siser Easyweed HTV from Michaels when it’s on sale and occasionally I will buy the Siser permanent adhesive vinyl

JOANN

JOANN’s also sells Cricut brand vinyl and you should only buy it when it’s on sale.

What I love about buying from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and JOANN, is the ease of being able to go into the physical stores and touch and feel the actual products before I buy them.

I also love that while I’m shopping in the store, I can pull out my phone and check the reviews for a product that I’m unfamiliar with.

Cricut pro tip: If you read the Michael’s coupon policy and price guarantee on their website (at the very bottom) they outline some of the retailers that they price match with.

When I bought a Cricut EasyPress 12 x 12 Machine for almost $150. Regular price for these machines are about $250 and Michaels had the machine on sale for $209 and I found the exact same Cricut EasyPress on Amazon for $190. So Michael’s price compared with Amazon and I had $55 in gift cards.

The same may be true if you prefer to buy Cricut brand vinyl. It can never hurt to ask the question when checking out if you see the exact vinyl for a cheaper price at their identified competitor stores.

I’m not sure if Hobby Lobby or JOANN’s price compares similarly to Michaels, but it’s always good to read the fine print just to see.

When it comes to buying vinyl for your Cricut machine, I suggest bookmarking THE sources that I listed above. You can also pin this post so you can always come back to it. These stores always have sales so be sure to look out for those.

Cricut Must Haves For Beginners

If you’re a beginner with your Cricut or if you’re thinking about buying a Cricut here are some Cricut Must Haves For Beginners. At the end of this post I also outline the Cricut must haves for 7 types of Cricut projects.

You can also watch my video on the Cricut must have accessories below.

Tool Set

A basic Cricut tool set is an absolute Cricut Must Haves For Beginners and seasoned Cricut users. The Cricut tool set comes with scissors, tweezers, a scraper, weeder, spatula, and blade cover.

Why You Need the Basic Toolset:

These tools are essential for crafting with your Cricut.

Blanks

If you don’t have any blanks, then you can’t do much with your Criuct. I created a post on Where To Buy The Best Blanks For Cricut Projects.  Amazon is one of my favorite places to buy blanks for my crafting projects.

Why You Need Blanks:

You will need blanks such as shirts, glassware, wood signs, etc. to make your Cricut projects.

Scoring Wheel/Stylus

If you have a Cricut Explore Air 2 like myself, you need a Cricut scoring stylus, but if you have a Cricut Maker you will need a scoring wheel. Both scoring tools allow you to create deep score lines for perfect folds.

Why You Need a Scoring Stylus/Wheel:

For a Cricut beginner you can use your scoring tool to create greeting cards, gift boxes, 3D home decor, birthday cards, pillow boxes and so much more.

Extra mats

Why You Need Cricut mats:

When I bought my Cricut machine it came with a mat, but after much crafting, the mat became less sticky. As a Cricut beginner your one mat will do you justice for a little while, but as you ramp up your crafting you’ll want to buy some extra Cricut mats or buy some adhesive spray for your Cricut mats to make them sticky again.

Amazon always has a great deal of 3 12×12 Cricut mats for $15.

Easy Press or heat press

As a Cricut beginner you will likely want to try your hand at creating tshirts, tea towels, makeup bags and more. With the Cricut Easy Press you can make all of those things. The Easy Press comes in 3 different sizes a 6×7, 9×9, and 12×10.

Why You Need a Cricut EasyPress machine:

Using an iron can get the job done, but you likely aren’t applying enough pressure, distributing the heat evenly or pressing down for a long enough time. All of that hassle is reduced with an Easy Press machine.

A heat press is similar to an easy press and can be used to make tshirts and more.

Watch this video on my Cricut EasyPress 2 review.

Easy press mat

You can also buy an Easy Press mat to go with your Easy Press machine.

Why You Need a Cricut EasyPress mat:

The Cricut EasyPress mat gets rid of any moisture/steam and wrinkles in your material, prevents you from messing up your HTV, and lets you create the perfect press every time.

Bright pad

The Cricut bright pad assists you with weeding tedious projects. If you’re a Cricut beginner and don’t know what weeding is, it’s the process of removing scrap vinyl from your design with your Cricut weeding tool.

With the bright pad, you lay your vinyl on the pad so that you can easily see the pieces you need to weed from your vinyl.

Why You Need a Cricut Bright Pad:

You need the Cricut Bright pad if you find it hard to see tiny pieces of adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl.

Carrying case

If you travel often and want to take your crafts on the road with you, you should invest in a Cricut carrying case. This bag has extra padding so you won’t scratch or damage your machine and also has storage pockets for your vinyl and Cricut tools.

This carrying case can fit any Cricut or Silhouette machine.

Why You Need a Cricut Carrying Case:

You need a Cricut carrying case if you want to protect your machine while you’re traveling.

Transfer tape

Transfer tape is a must when using your Cricut. There are many brands of transfer tape and many opinions on which is the best. My personal favorite is JH Best Crafts transfer tape and I like the Cricut brand of transfer tape also.

Transfer tape is very important when applying your vinyl to whatever surface that you are crafting on.

Why You Need Transfer Tape:

You need transfer tape if you’re planning to use adhesive vinyl to make tumblers, wall decals, car decals, wood signs, laptop decals, etc.

Cricut pens

I love that the Cricut machine can write because my handwriting isn’t the best. You can buy a variety pack of Cricut pens to create coloring pages, address envelopes, and so much more.

Note: There are certain fonts that you can use in Cricut to write letters that aren’t bubble letters. You can also download fonts from Dafont.com.

I hope you enjoyed this post on essential tools for Cricut beginners. Comment below and tell me what your Cricut must-have tools are.

Why You Need a Cricut Pens:

You need Cricut pens if you plan to write or draw with your Cricut machine.

Essential Craft Room Must Haves

This list of craft room must haves will give you inspiration to design a space where you can relax and create some of your best projects.

If you’re just putting your craft room together, you’re looking for craft room ideas on a budget or it’s time to glam up your craft room, this list of craft room must haves will give you inspiration to design a space where you can relax and create some of your best projects.

Storage Cart

Storage carts are all the rage now. They are perfect to put your Cricut machine on, your printer, paint and other craft supplies on.

The amazing thing about these storage carts is that you can take them into whatever room you are crafting in which makes the transporting of your craft supplies from one room to another super easy!

Great storage is essential for your craft room.

Adhesives

Glue guns, double sided tape and glue dots are a necessity for your craft room. If you’re making photo booth props, birthday cards, pillow boxes or whatever, your adhesives will seal the deal on your diy projects!

Cutting machine

When I first found out about cutting machines I was hooked. Originally I wanted a Silhouette machine, but a few of my friends wanted me to join the Cricut club and I couldn’t resist. Before I knew about cutting machines I was living in the stone ages using HeatNBond.

A Cricut machine is a craft room must have.

There are numerous projects you can make with your cutting machine and you can either sell these projects or keep them for yourself.

Cardstock/Vinyl

Vinyl crafts are my favorite but making crafts with paper is my most favorite thing to do. I enjoy paper crafting because cardstock is inexpensive and also because there’s an endless number of ways you can use paper ranging from diy pillow boxes to paper flowers.

If you’re looking for good deals on vinyl go to Amazon. These are my go to places for good quality, inexpensive vinyl with many patterns and designs including holographic vinyl.

Paper trimmer/ bone folder

With the paper crafts that you’ll be creating you will likely need a paper trimmer or bone folder. A paper trimmer is perfect to cut your image down to the right size so you can create your diy envelopes and other paper projects.

A bone folder is really handy when you’re curling your paper flowers or creasing a diy gift box.

Blanks

If you’re a true crafter you likely have an oversupply of crafting tools as well as an oversupply of crafting blanks. If you sell your crafts you’re probably in Hobby Lobby, Michaels or Joann’s every week looking for the latest deals while scrolling your phone for coupons.

Check out my post to find out Where To Buy The Best Blanks For Cricut Projects.

Some of the blanks that I keep on hand include canvases, mugs, tumblers, tshirts, canvas drawstring bags, and

Paint

A signature must have for your craft room is acrylic paint and spray paint. It’s so easy to transform a piece of furniture or picture frame from blah to tada with paint and spray paint. If you want something glittery there’s a paint for that, if you want something matte there’s a paint for that.

Painting and spray painting wood is one of my favorite things to do. I make frequent trips to Home Depot or Lowes to buy wood and create different diy home decor.

Printer

With most paper crafts you will need a printer and I recommend the Epson Ecotank 2850 printer. One of my favorite features of the Cricut machine is the print and cut feature. With this feature I can create stickers, invitations, greeting cards, tshirt designs, and so much more.

You most likely use your printer outside of crafting projects as well for printing resumes, planners, meal plans or work assignments.

This Epson Ecotank 2850 printer is definitely a craft room must have.

Spacious Desk

Your workspace can motivate or demotivate you to craft. I have this 6-foot folding table that I use as my craft desk. On my desk I have room for my Cricut Explore Air 2, my printer, my laptop, a lamp and a few books and pictures.

I love this table because it is multipurpose. I use this table for family events, girls night in and of course as my crafting desk!

Pegboard

Pegboards are great for hanging your Cricut tools, washi tape, scissors, paint, mod podge, embroidery hoops, quotes and so much more. There’s no limit to the different styles you can create with your pegboard. You can also paint your pegboard to accent your craft room.

Best Selling Craft Products

Music

Music is the perfect must have when crafting in your craft room. Sometimes I find myself jamming out more than I am crafting, but I always find my way back to my project.

Music relaxes you as you craft your heart out.

Organization

More often than not, your craft room won’t be 100% organized, but as long as you know where everything is you are good to go. I like to reorganize my craft room every night before I shut down my projects so that the next day I will be ready to craft again and not discouraged by the mess I left the day before.

Organizing and decorating your craft room is easy with these craft room must haves.

Enjoy this post? Comment below and let me know what some of your craft room must haves are.

DIY Pillow Box And Template

Pillow boxes are very simple to make, you just cut out the pillow box template, fold and glue!

Making pillow boxes is easy and quick. Use this free pillow box template to create your own gift boxes. Decorate your pillow boxes or use patterned cardstock.

Pillow boxes are great to put Valentine’s Day gifts in, candy, gift cards, money or anything else that can fit in your box. You can also spruce up your pillow boxes by using patterned cardstock or decorating the outside of the pillow box with paper flowers, gift tags, ribbon and so much more.

This diy pillow box tutorial takes less than 5 minutes to make. To get started, you’ll need the supplies listed below.

Supplies you’ll need:

This is one of the patterned cardstock designs that I used in this pillow box tutorial. Even though I created different size pillow boxes, the process is the same.

Download the template

Download the pillow box template and upload it to Cricut Design Space. Resize the template to your liking.

Cut your template

Insert your Cricut scoring stylus into your Cricut machine and cut the pillow box template. I flipped my cardstock on the opposite side so that the score lines would be inside the box.

Remove excess cardstock

Remove the excess cardstock from your mat and peel off your pillow box.

Fold on the score lines

Fold your pillow box on the dashed or score lines. Glue or tape the flap on the right side of your pillow to the opposite side of your box. Starting at the top or bottom, fold and glue/tape one side down, insert your gift and repeat the steps on the other side of your pillow box and you’re done!

Finished product!

Here are my finished products. These different size pillow boxes can be used for numerous gift ideas.

DIY Blocks of Wood Crafts – HOME

This diy wooden block project is easy and very affordable and adds a nice touch to your home decor. Wood block crafts are a great way to decorate your home for cheap.

I love wood blocks for DIY projects, they are inexpensive and can be used for a number of crafting and home decor projects. If you have some wood blocks laying around the house, or some that your kids have ditched, this DIY will be perfect for you.

Today I have a simple, affordable and very easy DIY project for you. I’ll be using 1 inch blocks of wood to create a home decor piece that’s simple yet stylish.

Supplies you’ll need:

Step 1 Lay out the blocks, paint, painting tray, sponge brush and vinyl.

Step 2 Use your Cricut machine to cut out the word “HOME.”

Step 3 Weed your vinyl and sit it to the side.

Step 4 Add about 3 coats of paint on each side of your blocks. Be sure to allow enough time for all sides to dry before adding your vinyl. I used a small heater fan to speed up the drying process.

Step 5 While the blocks are drying, apply transfer tape to your word “HOME” and then cut each individual layer.

Free Home SVGs

Step 6 Place the vinyl on the blocks.

Step 7 Remove the vinyl and you will have your finished product.

My “M” was a little messed up due to peeling the transfer tape off, but it’s hardly noticeable sitting on my guest bathroom counter!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY. You can also distress your blocks to give them more of that farmhouse look.
