Plan your Cricut business

Your dreams without a plan are just dreams. A plan gives you direction for how to make your dreams your reality. Use the steps below to plan your Cricut business.

  2. Register your business name at the Secretary of State (there is a fee, varies by state)
  3. Choose colors
  4. Create a logo
  5. Reserve social media accounts (2-3 max)
  6. Conduct competitor analysis to see what they do and don’t do well
  7. Determine what you want to sell (start with 4-5 items)
  8. Determine your startup costs
  9. Research your target customers
  10. Order your materials and supplies
  11. Set up your website (product listings, FAQ, shipping and return policies, etc.)
  12. Set up additional payment platforms to accept payments (Square, Venmo, PayPal, etc.)
  13. Set up spreadsheets to track business stats (items sold, income, expenses, social media followers, etc.)
  14. Create and order business cards
  15. Write and automate emails for your customers (about sales, new products, abandoned cart, holidays, etc.)
  16. Create and schedule social media content
  17. Market to your target customers (social media, ads, networking, craft/vendor fairs, etc.)
  18. Keep learning (continuous learning is important so you can stay on top of trends and be adaptable and efficient)

Act in your Cricut business

The list above was basically your plan and once you have your plan with all the necessary steps, it’s time to act on that plan.

Give yourself deadlines for each item on your list and make sure you use the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) goal method. Using the SMART goal technique will allow you incrementally achieve goals that are real and that you can measure results.

 

Assess your Cricut business

How will you know when you’ve reached your goal? Well, when you use the SMART goal method, you’re making measurable goals that you can assess. If you haven’t reached your goal yet, you may not have been specific enough and may need to break the goal down further.

Ex: If your goal is to grow your social media followers by the end of this month. You need to make that goal more specific by saying “I want to grow my Instagram followers by 100 by the end of this month”. You will also need to identify how you plan to do that. You can do that by posting on Instagram 2 times per day for 4 days a week.

Now at the end of the month, you will see how many followers you had at the beginning of the month vs the end of the month.

You will need to do this for each of your goals.

Repeat the actions in your Cricut business

In business, you never stop repeating the process outlined above, you have to continuously plan, act, assess, and repeat.

Doing this allows you to see what works and what doesn’t work.

It also allows you to understand yourself a bit better. Do you tend to take more time than needed to accomplish a goal? If so, you will learn to give yourself more time instead of putting pressure on yourself to complete a task more quickly.

Obviously, your deadline should be timely, but it shouldn’t be so short that it’s stressing you out.
